Suriya’s blockbuster fantasy action drama Karuppu is all set for its digital debut after an impressive theatrical run that grossed over ₹300 crore worldwide. The film begins streaming on Amazon Prime Video from June 12, 2026.
Karuppu Digital Debut Details
Following the standard four-week theatrical-to-OTT window adopted by most major South Indian releases, Karuppu is now gearing up to reach an even wider audience through its digital premiere. The film will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam languages. In Telugu, the movie was released under the title Veerabhadrudu.
Similar to other major releases this year, Coolie made its OTT debut after completing its theatrical run, demonstrating the growing importance of digital platforms for South Indian cinema.
About the Film
Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu features Suriya in a powerful role as Vettai Karuppu, a revered guardian deity. The story blends mythology, fantasy, and action with the struggles of a common man battling a deeply flawed judicial system, creating a unique cinematic experience that resonated strongly with audiences.
The film also stars Natti Nataraj, Swasika, Shivada, and Indrans in pivotal roles. Music is composed by Sai Abhyankar, while G.K. Vishnu handled the cinematography.
Extended Cut Expectations
Interestingly, despite featuring popular names such as Yogi Babu, Insta-fame Satheesh, Deepa, and Watermelon Star Divakar, several of their scenes did not make it into the theatrical cut. Following this revelation, fans have been urging the makers to include the deleted sequences in the OTT version.
Whether Amazon Prime Video will stream an extended cut featuring these unseen scenes remains to be seen. If that happens, it could provide an added incentive for audiences who have already watched the film in theatres.
